Hi everyone.
Susan led the group for our zoom call we had in early March. She had come across a video using gilding flakes with dry embossing and thought we would all enjoy giving this a try.
Gilding Flakes add an elegance to cards, whether you add a lot or just a little. Adding the dry embossing gives dimension, along with the swipe of archival ink to emphasize the highlights. Definitely worth trying this technique!
FYI, the group mostly found the ink stayed sticky for a while when swiped over the gilding flakes. It eventually dries.
Supplies:
- Card stock
- Double-sided sticky sheets
- Gilding Flakes
- Burnishing tool (Rub-it Scrub it from Ranger works really well)
- Embossing Folder
- Embossing machine
- Permanent Ink (Staz-on, Archival, etc.)
Technique Instructions:
Following the video above ...
- Cut card stock to size
- Add double-sided sticky sheet to card stock
- Remove cover sheet and place gilding flakes over top
- Burnish gilding flakes with fingers or burnishing tool
- Place gilding flake panel in embossing folder and run through embossing machine
- Remove panel from embossing folder and lightly swipe overtop with permanent ink to colour the highlighted design
